Princethorpe College has been one of the major forces in the midlands for the last 40 years. The college has produced many district, county and midlands representatives.
Rugby is the major game in the Michaelmas term. We have 4 rugby pitches and 3 traning areas which are utilised extensively. Rugby is compulsory for all boys in games lessons in the Michaelmas term in year 7, 8 and 9 with it being an optional for year 10 onwards. Extra-curricular clubs run through the Michaelmas and Lent terms for all age groups with the seniors training twice a week.
There is a strong fixture list programme in place for rugby, playing schools such as King Edwards School Birmingham, Bablake School, Lawrence Sheriff School and Leicester Grammar School. We are always looking to develop our fixture list as well as the boys in our care to be the best individuals and players as possible. In all the junior age groups we have a B team so that the participation base is widened and many boys get opportunities to compete for the College for the first time.
2009/10 saw the college achieve great success in the Daily Mail Vase competition where the 1st XV reached the last 32 and the U15 reaching the last 16. We are actively involved in pushing the boys in the Inter District Schools system which leads onto Warwickshire Development at U14 and U15 with hopefully Midlands and England rugby at U16 & U18
